The Passion of Artemisia by Susan Vreeland
This book is about one of the first great women painters in Italy. As a girl, she was raped by her instructor. She suffered greatly through the trial and lost all respect for her father. These events shape her life and her paintings. The book is from the viewpoint of Artemisia. Although many of the events are true and documented, the author fictionalizes Artemisia's feelings and thoughts. It is Historical Fiction, although the author does not include all of Artemisia's children in it, as well as other things in her life.
I liked this book. It was a nice read. I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars because the characters not as deep as I would have liked, and the plot was Ok. It interested me enough to find out more about her life and paintings. I found this great website about her.....
