Just finished A Thousand Splendid Suns by the author of The Kite Runner. I was wondering if this second book would be as good as Kite Runner, and it certainly is. It is about two women in Afghanistan whose lives come together in a set of unfortunate circumstances. The book spans from when Afghanistan was fighting against the Soviets to the dismantling of the Taliban. This book is hard to read at times, especially when it so graphically describes the plight of Afghani women under Taliban rule. I think that this is the best book I have read all summer; I strongly recommend it.

Did you enjoy The Kite Runner? I just couldn't get into that book for some reason.

I read A Thousand Splendid Suns two or three weeks ago and I absoultly loved it. I have not read The Kite Runner so I cannot compare the two. I loved how the book was intertwined between the two woman, and how the author took the story through several periods of Afgan life and history. I would recommend this book to everyone.
