This was my first book by this author, but apparently she has written several books in a "Nerd" series. My stepmom and I each snagged one at the book sale, which we plan to swap at some point.
This book was not for the faint of heart. It's about an heiress, Ally, who travels to Alaska to become a wildlife photographer. Photography is a lifelong dream of hers, and since her grandmother's recent passing she can pursue anything she wants. She is annoyed to find out that Mitchell, her grandmother's "assistant" (who was really hired to be her bodyguard) has followed her to Alaska. He claims he has paperwork for the estate, and much to her annoyance he gets snowed it with her in the small town of Porcupine.
They both stay at The Loose Moose Inn, a lodge that was once a brothel and is run by Betsy, and oversexed middle-aged woman. There are some pretty graphic scenes between Betsy and Clyde, the owner of the local bar and grill. Betsy's room is done in velvet draperies and she has a murphy bed with a mirror on the ceiling.
Ally is also secretly in contact with her estranged uncle, who was cut out of the will and plans to cheat her out of some money by pretending to help Ally with her career. Unfortunately his girlfriend just wants to kill Ally and get all the money. The uncle and his girlfriend are heavily into S&M which is also described in the book.
Meanwhile, Ally and Mitch spend long winter nights fighting their attraction to one another. Part of Mitch's cover is to be a nerd, but he's really a hunky bodyguard and security specialist. Will they cave in? Will Ally forgive him for deceiving her?
Turn up your air conditioning, mix up a cocktail, and enjoy this fun, easy read.
