by Nancy Pickard. This was a great read! It's a murder mystery that's not really scary at all. Someone finds a body of a naked, dead girl in the middle of a blizzard. The next day a boy from town (Mitch) leaves, and isn't heard from for 17 years. The girl was buried in the local cemetary with a headstone without a name. The dead girl has become a local legend who supposedly can cure sickness and make miracles happen. 17 years later....Mitch is back, and his ex-girlfriend tries to uncover the truth behind the identity of the Virgin and truth behind Mitch's disappearance.
I loved this book! The plot takes a lot of twists and turns, some of which you can guess, but some of which will shock you. My husband described it like this, "It's like an old puzzle you find in the attic that is partly finished. You pick up a piece, dust it off, and you get part of the picture. You pick up another piece, dust it off, and you get even more of the picture. But, you never really know until the end what the whole picture will look like."
I definitely recommend this one!
