My library branch isn't a large one so I rarely find a book there but I think that they are $1.00 or less.
I often find books at yard sales-usually for less than $2.00. I lucked out about a month ago and found about 20 fairly new paperbacks for 25 cents each. I was in readers heaven.
The used bookstore that I go to,to either get books or exchange them- they charge usually $5.00 for the p/b and hardcovers are 1/2 of the listed price.
At the library sales I've never paid more than $2 for a book (nothing was higher than that). I buy most of my books from Amazon, I don't like to pay more than $5-6 for a used book.
I actually just ordered 2 books from Amazon, NEW $6 each. :-D
At rummage sales, depending on condition, I'll pay up to 50 cents for a paperback and up to a dollar for a hardcover - $2 if it's a big hardcover I really want in great condition.
I think at library sales I pay $1 to $3
I don't usually buy used books I get mine from paperbackswap, I wouldn't pay more than $5 for a used hardcover or $3 for a paperback.
Jen-I didn't know you lived in Ireland.
