Hi there! The boys we so excited for the derby. Joe's car raced in the very first race, of course the computer timer thing wasn't working properly so they had to redo the race three times. Joe's car came in last twice and second once. (they raced 3 cars at a time) He was pretty bummed. Over all, Joe's times were average. Tommy's car did about the same, but he was more fortunate in the actual race part and his car finished first twice. Time wise, both cars averaged the same time.
There were so many boys there, I think there are about 100 boys in the pack so Tommy and Joe didn't sit near each other. After Joe's car raced, I could hear Tommy shouting to Joe that he did a great job! Oh, I was so proud cause everybody there heard Tommy yell encouragement to his little brother.
Joe did cry and that's ok cause it was his first race and i was expecting him to be let down a little bit. He wasn't the only boy crying. I did make little certificates for Joe's den and that did perk the boys spirits some.
Tommy's den did really well, one kid had the 2nd fastest time and another got most patriotic.
It was a good day. I hadn't planned on attending cause it was in the middle of baby's nap time, but we just put him in the stroller and hoped for the best, which worked. I don't think i will miss another race.
(((Hugs))) for Joe, those first races are so hard. Yeah to Tommy for encouraging his brother & congrats for doing well in his race. We've always taken the kids with us, that's what strollers are for, glad to hear it worked out so well.
Sounds like a great time!! We had other awards as well before the races, most patriotic, most unusual that sort of thing, I didn't know about those! lol NExt year we're gonna get crazy lol
