Hello buddies,

Well I have been avoiding this, could ya tell? I was going to go gung-ho this week and took in more carbs than ever. I even baked a cake and I haven't done that in years. I am going to have to find something very structured for me. I don't know if anyone in here has ever had there gallbaladder takin out but makes it very hard to eat salads and alot of veggies. I do like both but they don't like me. My back has hurt really bad this week which has made my siatica nerve hurt in my butt check and thigh. I know it all sounds like excuses, I'm not saying they had anything to do with what I stuck on my mouth. I never cook and I have cooked just about every night this week, with potatoes s/p or pasta and of course coke, coke ,coke, pure leaded no diet for me. French vanilla in my coffee. Fat free? NOOOOO. I think I am going to sign up for Extreme Makeovers, but I would not show my stomach like that gal did this last week. She is much smaller than me and she was..........lets just say I wouldn't show it. They could just lop off all this lap I have and pull my upper belly down and give me a new belly button, implants and tie my chins around my ears or something. Just kidding, I guess thats why they call it Extreme.

Okay buddies you have got your hands full with me. Open to any comments, suggestions etc.

I don't know if I have ever mentioned that I am on 3 medications for my anxiety/Panic disorder, which I do believe play a big role in this. I have drank more water than I ever have this week.

All jokes aside this lady my daughter works with is 55yrs old and her insurance wouldn't pay for one of those gastrinal type surgeries where they make your stomach smaller so she and her hubby who have money paid $20,000 for her to have it done and she has lost like 150 lbs in about 5-6 months. Now she is getting ready to get all the excess skin taken off. She gave me alot of her waredrobe, very nice clothes. All she can eat is 4 ounces of food per setting.Girls there is no way that I would have that done, unless the Dr.s told me I was going to die. Also I quit smoking a year ago. I know that just came out of know where but thought you needed to know that LOL

Okay I'm going to bed now but I will be lurking around to see how many answer my post lol You all have a great rest of the weekend. Bye for now Debbie

Okay, before I get to the "any comments, suggestions etc." part of this post, let me give you a big (((HUG))). You are not the first or the last of us to get off to a rocky start. I have BEEN THERE....more than once. Don't give up and don't give in. Stick to it when you don't want to, cause if you wait until you WANT to diet, you'll never start.

As far as a suggestion goes, here's mine: I'm doing pretty well right now with a diet that's similar to the Carb Addicts Diet. What I do is not eat any obvious carbs* until dinner time every day. Then, at dinner, I can have a serving of whatever carb I want as long as it's part of a balanced meal. If I have enough calories left (I stick to 1500/day), I can even have a little dessert. I don't know why this is working, but it is! I was eating 1500 calories a day before I cut the carbs out, and I wasn't losing anything. I cut out those carbs, and the weight started to drop. The best part for me is that I didn't have to say goodbye to potatoes or pasta -- just wait until dinner to have them. I don't know if this will work for you, but it's an idea!

Also, I need to tell you about my mom. Her doctor told her to cut the obvious carbs from her diet just to see what would happen. She lost 16 pounds in 2 weeks without counting calories!

*Obvious carbs - bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, cereals, fruits, sugars (My mom continued to eat fruit though, and did just fine!)

You may want to try coming up with your own plan or talk to your doctor. I don't understand this whole low carb thing, but there's no doubt that it works. A caution: please don't eliminate all carbs without checking with your doctor first. I tried this with the Atkins plan and made myself sick as a dog!

Well, now - that was probably more than you bargained for, wasn't it? ;o) BTW, congrats on drinking all that water. Good for you! AND, stop lurking and come out and play! Believe me, we all know how you feel. You couldn't find a more understanding group of buddies.

You CAN do this.

(((HUGS))) - Karen

Hi Debbie,

Come on out and play - the weather is nice - much nicer than being stuck inside.

Now on a more serious note, this is the best place to come for support, get/give encouragement and just bounce ideas off each other. I hope to see you post often.

Hugs,

Carrollee
