Good morning everyone. I just wanted to stop in and introduce myself and tell you a little about me.

My name is Cheryl. I'm 25 years old and I live in TN. I have to daughters, ages 2 (almost 3) and 8. I have been married for 3 years.

Let me take you through my weight loss adventures. First off let me say this...I have NO WILLPOWER. I have a problem dieting. The first step is to admit you have a problem, right? :) Anyway, I was 140 when I got pregnant with my first daughter. After she was born I got down to 170. This worked for me. I was happy. Then I got pregnant with my second daughter. After she was born I weighed 209. I was miserable. I started taking phentermine for about a year. I would still be taking it, but I can't afford it anymore. I lost about 30 pounds. I ended up gaining back about half of it...not too bad I don't think. Anyway, so here I am at 190, looking for 160. I don't know if I'll ever see it though.

I've started a die hard diet. I have cut back to about 1400 calories and started making myself exercise (big accomplishment for me).

I have started journaling, writing down everything. I heard that journaling and having a support group were two things that helped a lot of people lose weight. Let me just tell you that my husband is totally UNsupportive. It's sad I know. He tells me that I need to lose weight, but he has no faith in me that I can. That's why I'm here. I need some support and encouragement.

Like yesterday, I was so proud of myself. I had two brownies and I was DYING to eat one, but I gave them away to someone else just so I wouldn't eat them. He didn't understand what I was so proud of. "Because you didn't eat a brownie?" (sarcastically) I've also started walking almost every day. I figure a little at a time is better than trying to do it all at once.

Well, I'm gonna run for now, just wanted to stop in and say hello and let y'all know what's up with me. If anyone wants to know anything, just ask! I'll tell you anything...well, almost anything. lol

Welcome Cheryl, from reading your post it appears you are headed in the right direction. Every choice you have made will add up to a weight loss, I'm sure.

We offer unconditional support here. This is a great bunch of ladies! So post often and share your journey. I believe in sharing, we all learn from each other.

A bit about me: My name is Musky and I'm from NJ. I'm 47 and have had success in losing some weight. It's a struggle I live with each and every day. I don't ever want to give up, so I just keep climbing back onto the "wagon". With this attitude I will be a success at this. BTW I can be a bit mischievous. ;-}

I'm wishing you luck in your journey.

Carrollee,

I really haven't decided what "diet" I want to go with. I need something really easy, haha, because it's hard for me to have to cook dinner for my family and not be able to eat it, but my husband won't eat 'diet' food. It really makes me want to scream...

I have started drinking about 40 ounces of water a day, walking a mile a day and cutting back on calories. I never really ate a lot of fattening foods before, but I think my portions were a big part of the problem. I've started measuring everything I eat. I'm hoping this will help me get through this.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome and I hope y'all can help me get through this. I really didn't want to walk today (I do it on my lunch hour), but I made myself. Then I thought about it and I am so proud of myself (again) - because I did it anyway.

Baby steps...that's what I keep telling myself.

...and vitamins. I've always heard people say that when you diet you should take vitamins, but of course, I never listened.

I've started taking a vitamin every morning and it's amazing that I can tell a difference.

I don't know if any of you take them, but if not, you should try. It really does make a difference.

Welcome, Cheryl, I'm one of the old timers here. It's taken me 3 years to lose 60 pounds, and I'd still like to lose another 40, so I'm never giving up. Right now I'm just learning to maintain again for awhile. You are off to a good start and I'm sending you kudoes for the exercise and good choices you're making. It all comes down to choices in the end. You can choose to be successful or you can choose to sabotage your weight loss. Do this for YOU, and don't worry about anybuddy else. We are all different, so do what works for Cheryl. I've got a hubby who isn't real supportive either. I sometimes think they are threatened by our success. Well, like I said, you're in this for the way it's going to make YOU feel in the long-run, so don't worry about it. Hope to see you around regularly! Pam, 54, Arkansas

WELCOME!! CHERYLLYNN

You have deffently come to the right place. These ladies are so wonderful words just can not discribe. Like you i have a hard time with cooking my self one thing and DH something else. Does't really work well with just the two of us plus there are just some things i don't ever want to give up. so i decided to watch my intake and that i don't eat surgar items before i have had a real meal. Also these ladies got me started drinking a lot more water which i swear has helped a bunch. and as far as celebrating for giving away the brownies.... heck i celebrate when i finish my glass of water or when i pass up anything thats not very good for me or extra helpings. i find it gives me warm fuzzies and we need lots of those! :) Glad to have you here and good luck on all your goals.
