Getting ready to make goals for 2004

Hi! I thought getting some support online would be a positive thing for me in reacing my weight loss goals. I am new to this board and hope to find others so that we can encourage and support each other. I am 32 years old and have been married for 10 years (in September). I am also the mother of two children ages six and four. Since the birth of my oldest, I have been focused on my weight because of course I have never lost the baby weight and have continued to pack it on. When I see pictures of me, I can't believe it. My husband and I will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary in September and want to go somewhere warm with a beautiful beach....so I want to lose the weight and feel better than ever. I think I am reasonable, knowing I won't look like I did at age 21....that's okay....I just am unhappy with me now. I have about 50 pounds to lose. We are purchasing a treadmill to have at home and we have a bowflex. My husband travels one week out of the month so I found that the gym membership was not used very much. I find excuses all the time not to go. However, I know when I'm eating healthy and working out is when I feel the best. I also suffer with depression and find it is much less when working out. Any support or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am getting ready to write down my goals for the new year. It's time to take care of me. Have a wonderful day. Thanks.

A very warm welcome to you, Tara!! I'm so glad you found us!

You sound as though you have a plan and are ready to attack those extra pounds, so all I can say is GO FOR IT!! Exercise is my favourite form of stress and depression relief...and NOTHING is better for weight loss than combining cardio work (treadmill) with resistance training (bowflex). One thing I can add is do NOT accept ANY excuses from yourself not to do it. Whatever you have to do to get it done, DO IT! And push yourself a little bit each time, and you'll reap a multitude of benefits, physically and emotionally!

I can't wait for us to get to know each other better...jump in anywhere/everywhere!

I am a 35year old, married almost 12 years mom of 10yo daughter in Alberta...and I love travelling to beachy destinations, too!

thank you all for your responses. I will be beginning my new life on Jan 5. I'll post my goals after I finally decide on them, maybe some feedback would help as well. Can't wait to feel better.

Have a great night,
