GOOD SATURDAY MORNING, BUDDIES!!! :o)
| Sat, 01-10-2004 - 9:39am |
I have a house-load of teenaged girls right now. Wheeeeeee! Kelsy had a "study" sleep-over last night. They really did study for a while, but they managed to find time to do their nails, watch a video, play video games, talk, eat, eat some more, etc. Everyone will be leaving within the next half hour. They've been really nice and almost totally self-sufficient, but I'll still be happy to have my house back. LOL
Good Saturday to you, Buddies!

Congrats on hauling yourself to the gym, San! That'll undo some of the cheesecake damage!LOL
It's actually not terribly cold here right now, but it's been raining (and freezing) for hours...ice storm of '04, here we are! TERRIFYING driving conditions (unfortuantely, we have so much to do today...we've already seen at least 10 accidents).
Stay warm and eat healthy today!!

Isn't it strange how you can have never even heard about something, and then you hear about it 2 or 3 times in the just a few days time?
Good luck with getting back on track! I'm doing the same thing today. John and I went out to eat at a Euro-cafe for lunch yesterday and intended to go to Walmart after that and then back home, but somehow we ended up test-driving new vehicles for a few hours and then it was dinnertime, so we went out for dinner at a fish house before we came home. Eating out twice in one day is more than my diet can handle!

Apparently it doesn't snow or ice often enough here for the City to think snow trucks are practical, so when the roads DO ice over, they just shut down businesses and encouraged everyone to stay home until the sun melts the ice!

I WISH everything would shut down here when the roads are THAT treacherous (I have NEVER been in anything like it before...which should say a lot about how bad it was)! Chains are illegal on the city roads (because of the damage they cause), and steel-studded tires are available, but expensive, and useful only to a point.
It was a good 2 hours before the sanding trucks were out in full force (mixture of sand, gravel and ice-melting chemicals), but it was still VERY icy. The only solution is to go very slowly (my car never got out of 2nd gear), and hope every other idiot on the road is going to go slow, too (which they weren't...morons). Of course, those idiots were the ones missing bumpers and side panels by days end!!
But today it looks more sloppy than icy, and we only have to leave the house once (PTL)...everything but the roads look
