New...and newly determined!

I just had one of those moments where I actually SAW myself...and it wasn't pretty! Last time I managed to lose a lot of weight I had one of those moments, so I hope this is a similarly good sign! (I gained it back with a pregnancy) My scale actually isn't working at the moment (okay, DH doused it with a harsh chemical trying to kill a couple of spiders so it's probably not GOING to work) but last I weighed in I was around 187. As you can tell from my screen name, my goal is 130! No firm thoughts on when I'd like to get there, but definitely by the end of the year.

Without having actually read it LOL), I'll venture to say that I'm following the "change one" plan from Reader's Digest. I'll set a goal and try to stick to it just for the week. Once that becomes habit, one week at a time, I'll make another change. That said, my current two goals are exercise and water intake. I'm not aiming for a set amount of water, but rather limiting myself to ONLY water.

As far as exercise, I've got a daily quota that is "mandatory", and then I'll walk several times a week--2.5 miles a day. My daily exercises are as follows:

crunches: 4 sets of 35

cycling: 4 sets of 5 mins (I lay on my back and cycle my legs in the air)

leg lifts: 50 on each side with no break

pushups: 4 sets of 10

aerobic: 4 sets of 15 mins (this is usually stepping or lunging to music or music videos)

As long as I do that every day and don't leave and "holes" in my completion chart, I'll feel like I can't miss it! So far so good--BOTH days, LOL! I can do it throughout the day, so it's just a series of relatively simple steps to accomplish.

I can't weigh in, so I'll just have to focus on measurements for now. That's not altogether a bad thing, because I tend to get wrapped up in the numbers!

I look forward to getting to know you all!

Welcome on board! This board beats the best Weight Watchers meetings because we spur one another on, share our failures, get inspiration and challenge one another. It's a wonderful place and we love new folks, so stick around and watch that weight drop off.

By the way, I'm very impressed by your exercise regime. If I do half of that per day, I'd be lucky.
