I have been lurking around the boards, and decided it was time to introduce myself, my name is Candi. I have lost 16 pounds so far on my own, but feel some help from this board may help me to keep going. I have found myself at my highest weight and never thought I would reach 230 but low and behold, there it was. I have some health problems already starting and I know that losing weight will help me with some of them. I am grateful for the opportunity to join you ladies and to gain support in my weight loss goals.

I was a lurker too. (Still am to alot of boards) But this one is generally so active it's hard to resist commenting, or at least "being around". You sound like your well on your way with having lost 16 pounds already. That is amazing!!!

Challenge!!!
Thank You so much Gretel for the warm welcome. I have decided to make lifestyle changes, rather than any crazy diets. I am trying to watch portions, watch nutrition, stay away from sugars and hold back a little on the carbs. I am also walking and enjoying my neighborhood a little more. Of course drinking more water and getting plenty of rest and vitamins, seems to be helping in many areas.

Welcome Candi. You have come to the right place for support. Congratulations on your l6lb loss. Are you doing anything for exercise and how are you handling food?
I'm following a nutrition program I took years ago after having heart surgery and go to a trainer twice a week. I also work out at home on a treadmill and eliptical and walk outside when it doesn't bother my allergies. I just tried Jillian Michael's beginnger dvd and liked it so much I'm buying it. She was a trainer for The Biggest Loser. I started all of this last September at l97lb and on Monday I weighed in at l56.5. I've definitely had my downs with plateaus which seem to hit when I don't have a period (going through peri-menopause) but my cardiologist has decreased my cholesterol and blood pressure meds in half and I feel great so I don't get discouraged with the scales any more.
You stick with us and you will learn what we are all doing to be successful and even realize we are all human and aren't perfect all the time but can still follow our dreams. Sandy
