Good, very early, morning! I have a HUGE delimma... I need to lose 50lbs and cannot find the motivation/willpower to do so! I can diet for about a week and lose a good 7lbs or so (water weight of course), but then I'm tired of dieting and ready to eat like a cow again. WHY can I not find the motivation anywhere in this overly large body of mine?
Can anyone help? My life is at risk and with a new baby girl, I cannot risk that. I have never been thin (or at a healthy weight) my whole life. Now that I have Reaghan I have really been concerned about my weight and losing it. You would think thats willpower and motivation right there... but only for a few days, then I'm fat mommy again. :(
Please help...

I'm trying to lose about the same. I use this board as motivation. My problem is I tend to forget my goals, or push them aside. I also am trying to build a habit of either going to the gym, or something, so that I become more 'active'. I think it's a hard task to change habits, but it is do able... Congrats about the baby girl though! :-) And welcome to the board. RainP.S. I find starting out with small changes, and then moving on to bigger ones is easier and sometimes keep longer. Cold turkey type things don't work for everyone, but everyone can change at least a little.

Hi, Jennifer!
I really understand your struggle - I think a lot of people here will.

Oh sweetie, first off, let me give you some big (((((HUGS)))))!!!!!
I so feel your pain! I was right where you are after I had my second child and I vowed to both my kids, at birth, that I would not be a fat mom. You see, my mom was and she never did anything with us, or for us, never went to our school events, and if/when she did, I hate to admit this, but I was kind of embarrassed. I know that sounds horrible, but it's true. I knew that when I had my children I would NOT be that way with them. I already have age against me (LOL, I'm 37) so I didn't want weight to be a factor too.
One day my family was in Wal-mart, about a month after my son was born, and they had a display of Slim Fast Optima and they gave me a pamphlet. I put it in my diaper bag and read it when we got home. It really opened my eyes and made a lot of sense to me. The next weekend I bought the Slim fast Optima shakes and followed the plan. I found it to be really easy, and I liked it.
I was 238 pounds when I went into labor with my son. My weight loss stalled at 208.5 and that is where I remained until I got on the Slim Fast plan. I went from 208.5 to 138. It took a year to do it, but it was a commitment I needed to make.
Now I'm not saying this will work

Jennifer,
Congrats on the new baby girl!!!!!
Hi Jennifer.
Ahh, Jennifer, You're not alone in this!!
I too have been struggling to lose about 55 pounds since having my son last summer. I don't want to be a fat mom either, but any little disruption in my routine puts me off track. What has worked the best for me is to write down everything I eat and keep track of how many calories/fat grams I eat every day. Also, I'm a member of another board here at iVillage where we are having a step challenge, so I keep a pedometer on all day. THAT has really helped because I felt like I was really active, having a baby around and all, but discovered that I actually wasn't. Now I make it a goal to increase my average steps every month until I get to an average of 8000 (I'm far from there).
I'm trying really hard to remind myself every day that one mistake is not the end of the world, and it's how I respond to that "mistake" that matters.
YOU CAN DO IT! We're all here for you.
Hi, welcome to the board!
Remember, dieting isn't about restricting your food intake to celery and diet soda.
Good Morning!
Great job!
