Help! Want to bake, not eat.

I need some encouragement. I bake to de-stress, celebrate, and to cheer up - sooo, I'm on a baking spree right now and my favorite fall back is desserts. Currently I have enough for 3 to 4 batches of peanut butter chocolate chip cookie dough - sadly the dough makes about 3.5 dozen cookies. YIKES. I already ate too many, so I need some words to remind myself baking is ok, eating is not. I have people I can track down to eat them for me, but I have a munchig problem. I can't not eat at all, because I taste the dough before I get ready to bake since I don't follow a recipe exact for these cookies.

Blah I don't want to put another cookie in my mouth, but my hands have a mind of their own. Help me.

I don't know what will work for you, but when I can't control my hands in the kitchen, I wear my night guard.

I know I'm a little late on this, but some of my tricks include brushing my teeth, filling up on water, providing myself with something else to chew on - popcorn, cucumber slices, etc.

I didn't think about brushing my teeth or filling up on water! :-P I will tomorrow when I bake the rest of them. I also have people who I promised cookies to so that's helpful. My weight went up sadly though - but hey, I can always get back in gear this weekend. Though what I really need to do is get my housework and schoolwork in gear too.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Oh duh! I could wear my retainer. There's no way I can eat it dough or cookies because of the chocolate chips in the dough or the baked-ness. I'll need to still fill up with water though cause otherwise I'll end up taking my retainer out, knowing me. But what a great idea.

This may be too late, but here goes....as someone who gets great enjoyment out of baking, I can relate all too well. Some tricks I use:

  • Keep a glass of water nearby and glug instead of nibble.

  • Bake for the enjoyment of OTHERS, meaning, as soon as the cookies are cool enough, wrap a dozen or so up in pretty cellophane bags and give them out as random acts of

My cookies were 80 calories for one ball of dough. :-)
