GOOD NEW YEAR'S EVE DAY, BUDDIES!!

Are you ready?  We're about to enter into a shiny, brand-new year!  Have you been making plans already?  Do you have a vision of yourself at the end of 2009?  Where do you want to be?  How do you want to feel?  What do you want to accomplish?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately.  I'm not really a resolutions person, but I think maybe it's about time I became one.  There are some changes that I need to make, and I want to put them in writing.

1 - I want to get healthier.  As I get older, I find that the extra weight I'm carrying makes me miserable in so many ways - aches and pains, lack of energy, and perhaps the worst - worries about my health.

2 - I want to continue my recovery from the big bomb that dropped on our lives when Dan lost his job.  In many ways, things are improved, but I know I carry around a fear that something bad is going to happen any minute.  It's tough to really enjoy anything when you're always worried that someone or something is going to snatch it away from you.  I need to get back to trusting in God to make the best decisions for me.

3 - There are several events coming up in the next few years for which I'd like to look good as well as feel good.  First is J's graduation from high school.  Lots of pictures were taken when K graduated, and I'm not too thrilled with the way I looked in any of them.  Next is my 50th birthday -- I reeeeeeeeeally want to be a fabulous 50 year old!  After that comes K's graduation from college, and (if things continue the way they have been - yikes) potentially a wedding.  I know the focus is supposed to be on the bride, but I'd still like to be one hot mother of the bride someday!

So, that's my thinking.  I want to be a big ol' LOSER in 2009.  I want to celebrate the next New Year's Eve feeling and looking good and basking in the glow of a major accomplishment!

Does anybuddy else have some "resolutions" they'd like to share?  I'll help you get to your goals if you'll help me!  Let's use our buddy power to make 2009 a fantastic year!

Karen, I think all of your resolutions are great ones. Getting healthy is so important - and looking great is a nice side effect of that =) Let's make 2009 our year!

I do sometimes make resolutions, but usually they are extraordinarily easy to accomplish. Well, kinda. I have two so far this year:

1. I'd like to lose more weight. Ideally I'll get to goal, but if I don't that's fine. I just want to be smaller when I ring in 2010 than I am today =)

2. (This is the one I really want to work on) I have an issue with being really cheap about certain things and I want to change that. Specifically, I'm thinking about my hair ties. I usually buy a pack of hair ties about once a year. I use only one each month or so and when it stretches out I just deal with it - and they usually stretch out after a week of daily use. And if it breaks, I tie it back together. I mean, come on, a pack of hair ties is only a couple bucks, why do I do this? So I've decided I'm going to buy them regularly this year - maybe 3-4 times this year and use a new one each week. Simple enough, right?

So those are my resolutions so far. I'm considering trying to add one about stop worrying and just living, but I can't seem to find the wording for exactly what I want to do. I'll work on that today =)

Anyways, hope you have a phenomenal day! And I'll see you next year!

Happy New Years Eve day to you, too, Karen!! I love your "resolutions" list. Do you keep promises to your loved ones? I bet everything I have that you don't ever let one of them down. You know how great you will feel to depend on these promises to yourself??

I am thinking I need to make myself some very solemn promises as well (regular exercise, no excuses; continued portion control), for many of the same reasons (health, fear/worry, upcoming happy events- egads, woman, a WEDDING?????? ). LOL Nothing will feel better than taking care of ourselves the way God wants us to. You have all of my support and love, and though changing habits is hard, it is not as hard as getting older in poor health.

Love you lots, have a happy last day of the year!! Hugs,

Good morning, Jen! I love your resolutions of health and education and family!! I started back to college almost 2 years ago, and though it is tough, it is SO rewarding. Good luck getting to your 40-pound goal (I am in the same boat, wanting to lose another 40 or so by my birthday in July). Don't let anything stop you from reaching your goals, buddy!! hugs,

Oh, Gretal, you made me laugh about the hair ties (because I can relate on so many levels). But if we don't save where we are able, then how can we splurge when we want to?? ;o) I hope you throw caution to the wind and buy them whenever the mood strikes! heeheeee

I can also relate to "stop worrying/start living". I am doing better the past few months despite a hectic schedule (maybe because of the hectic schedule not leaving time or energy for worry??) and it feels really good! I wish you luck....letting go of fears is SO hard!!

Have a happy day, friend!!

Good morning, Amy! Boy, it sure sounds like a lot of us struggle in the same ways, with fear and worry (maybe it's just a woman-thing). I like that your changes are things that need to be done for lifelong health. Keep striving, friend, you'll get there!! Hugs,
