Finally I got my computer back...

Oh My Gosh....I have missed you girls and NEEDED you girls soooo much.  I do not know how I have gotten through the last twoish months without you.  Let me tell you what I have been through and why I disappeared (for the last time)

I have been so lost....  So right before Thanksgiving everything fell apart.  My computer crashed so first I had no way to get on here.  Then the Friday prior to Thanksgiving my father went into the hospital.  Now let me tell you, my dad does not EVER go to a doctor.  He went to the local hospital only to find out he had a serious bleed on the brain and was sent Life Flight to Shands Hospital in Gainesville.  They didn't think he would even make the flight over there.  He made it there and was in Neuro ICU for 10 days.  They found the source of the bleed in a weak blood vessel.  So anyway I spent almost 2 weeks there and when he finally came home he couldn't hardly walk.  I ended up missing 2 weeks of class (when there were only 4 weeks left) and failed my 3 finals.

So on top of all of that...DH got laidoff right before Christmas (which we already knew was gonna happen) and I had to get a job now.

So needless to say the last ending of my 2008 was pretty much crazy, bad parts & good parts.  Now my dad still isn't able to work, he is getting around pretty good but gets tired really easy.  He still has headaches that puts him in bed and requires lots of pain meds.  He is expected to recover but they say it will take months.  His memory comes & goes and his eye-sight isn't that great right now.  It is still a struggle but we are all making it.

With all of this, I went to the doctor and found out that I have a thyroid issue (hypothyroidism).n  I am on meds now and my doc tells me once we get it back to where it should be my weight loss efforts should start really paying off with the exercise I was doing.  But for now, I am not allowed to really exercise or diet.  I will be allowed to get back on the exercise kick in a few weeks after she makes sure the meds are working.  So until then I can only watch what I eat but I was told I have to eat at least 1500 cal instead of the 1200-1400 I was eating.

Anyway....sorry it's so long but I had to get it all out there.  So now my computer is back up and running (finally) and I am trying to put things back into place.  I miss you girls......

Holy crow, Heather! That was a lot of stuff all crammed into a short period of time like that.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad, but that is great that they found it in time. I think Shands has a team of serious miracle makers there. Every time I've ever been there (always for my roommates in college - once with a serious condition when my roommate was allergic to a medication her doc gave her and she woke up with her throat so swollen she couldn't breathe) they always seem to really pull things together and help out big time! When we moved from Gainesville to come up to NY a couple years ago, that was seriously something I was concerned about leaving! So, I'm very happy to hear he's okay and getting better! That must have been terribly scary for you guys! (((HUGS)))

That stinks about the layoff, too, but I take it you did find a job? That's good. Sorry about the classes though. But it's understandable with the family crisis. Family is first, classes can always be retaken! And just imagine how much easier it'll be next time!

And the thyroid problem on top of it all, sheesh! My mom just got the same diagnosis, so she'll be start meds very soon, too. I hope it all gets resolved quickly and you see the results! I do know a friend of mine had the same problem, after being on the meds for about 2 months she dropped 10 pounds. So hopefully you'll have similar results! And don't worry about the calorie increase- that's still a reasonable amount! And heck, it'll seem like a splurge day compared to your old limits - and splurge days on doctor's orders have got to be good!

Anyways, I'm glad you're back. You've gone through a lot lately and I love that you're still so positive and trucking right along! Everything will get worked out soon! Glad to have you back, I missed ya! =)
