Happy Weekend, Buddies! It's very rainy and gray here today, but you know what they say about April showers! Our plans include shopping and cutting up a bunch of veggies for the veggie tray we're taking to my parents' house tomorrow.
It's gray and rainy here today, too. It's laundry and housecleaning day, interspersed with computer time and hanging out with DH and our kitties. Or, more accurately, computer time and hanging out interspersed with laundry and cleaning. Priorities, you know.
DH is graciously figuring out how to download this season's episodes of Desperate Housewives (legally, of course!) He's my techy-geek honeybunch! Later we'll make some air-popped popcorn (ate A LOT of that when I was thin so I'm trying to resurrect old habits) and watch an independent film recommended by a coworker, The Puffy Chair. Got it from Netflix. Love me some Netflix!
I don't have to cook for Easter this year; I was asked to get a Marie Callendar's key lime pie, which I did. We're invited to a friend's parents' house and I'm looking forward to spending time with some very nice people. They're making an un-traditional meal: seafood gumbo and it sounds yummy. (We're in central Texas and they, including DH, are from east Texas, near the Louisiana border.) Last year I knocked myself out over Easter with my sister and her kids visiting from Chicago. I went CRAZY with the goodies; I was so thrilled to have them visiting! My niece, who was 9 at the time, seemed a little perplexed at the HUGE baskets she and her brother woke up to find. She finally said, "I know, the Illinois Easter bunny and the Texas Easter bunny got together and made extra big baskets!"
Wow! I had just typed that last sentence when the phone rang - it was my niece! And she told me that her mommy finally told her that the Easter bunny and Santa Claus don't really bring the gifts, etc., mommy does. I asked her if she knew that already and if she was disappointed or surprised. She said she didn't know and she was wasn't disappointed, but she was surprised. I asked her why she was surprised and she said, "because Mommy likes to sleep and Daddy would never do all that!" Out of the mouth of babes! Funny timing that she called and told me that while I was writing about what she said last year.
Anyway, here's good thoughts to everyone while we try not to overdo it with holiday food. I know I will be tempted. Fortunately, key lime pie is something I would only want a little bit of. I'm thankful they didn't want chocolate chip pecan pie ala mode! Dodged a bullet there!
Hey Karen, Im sorry that you are having some bad weather but hopefully that will change. How did your shopping go? Veggies sound real good right now.
Today has been such a good day. Early this morning a guy came to look at our house to see about trading it in for a modular house. I am getting very exciting. There is so much happening and for once I feel that everything is going in the right direction. I havent done to well with my eating this past week but tomorrow is a new week and things are going to change. I am getting back on my diet and start taking care of things I need to.
Have a good night buddy!

We have enjoyed a few BEAUTIFUL, sunny days here, around 60F. The snow is almost gone. It was weird the other night to hear a massive T-storm knowing that there is stil so much snow everywhere, but the rain is making it disappear quickly (YAY!!! maybe winter is O-V-E-R!!).
My day yesterday consisted entirely of procrastinating over homework, avoiding homework, etc. LOL I shopped, visited a friend, drove Jen around everywhere...it was a good day.

Mmmmm, I love key lime pie. The untraditional meal sounds delicious, too.
Your niece sounds like a hoot!!
