GOOD SATURDAY MORNING, BUDDIES!

Hi!

I'm waiting for J to finish getting dressed.  We're off to an early-bird sale at Kohl's.  She needs shoes and a dress for graduation.  They insist on white shoes - she has none.  They also insist on a light colored dress....though it will be covered by a robe the whole time, so I'm not sure why they care.  If the robes were white I could see it, but her robe will be red!

Anyway, after shopping, I'm going to work in the yard - weather permitting.  We have so much to do to be ready for Thursday!

What's shakin' with your Saturday, Buddies?  Got some fun planned?

Happy day!

Kohl's has great sales! I hope you and J found what she needed. Does she go to a private school? I wonder why they insist on a light-colored dress? I went to Kohl's for a little bit yesterday, too. I broke down and bought a pair of shorts. When my friend from back home came to visit recently she encouraged me to find shorts (we're expected to be in the 100s this week.) She suggested the long shorts that hit just above the knee but my legs are short - I'm just barely 5'3" and my knees and the area above my knee are, well, let's go with the description "sturdy" so the long shorts are not flattering at all. I wound up getting regular shorts. I'm pale and flabby but at least there's some shape showing. Now, will I actually wear these shorts around other people? I'm not sure I can muster the courage to do that. The best I've managed the last few years is cargo pants. DH and I leave on Thursday to the suburbs of Chicago (Mom's 65th bday family reunion!) so I'll take the shorts with me. Maybe with my mom and sister's support, I'll wear the shorts. Ugh.

Other than Kohl's, I got a haircut (trying to update my look to something a little more professional...) did laundry, met with the new pet-sitter (hate leaving my kitties when I go away!) and then we went with another couple for a casual dinner and to see Up. I don't want to give anything away to anyone who hasn't seen it but I didn't realize it would be as intense and heavy as it was and I think I would have found a lot of it even more upsetting if I were child. I sure hope that isn't telling too much and that it's ok that I recommend taking kleenex.

Today I really should go in to work. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really don't want to! But I have so many loose ends that need tying up before I leave (we'll be gone over a week) and I don't want my coworkers to have to pick up any of my slack. I just want to stay home, do laundry, clean, and start packing. As I write this I'm trying to formulate in my head how I can go in early and stay late the next few days rather than go in today....but....why put off until tomorrow what you can do today....errggghhh. I have some laundry going right now so I have to wait until that's done, then I'll revisit how I'm feeling. If my office were nearby I'd go without question. But the roundtrip drive alone will be an hour and a half. Hmm, that kinda justifies my plan to just go in early and stay late the next few days...

Ok, I'll stop boring you with my mundane train of thought rambling. Good luck with all your preparations! This sounds like a very exciting time in your and your daughter's life - I think it is so great that you two seem close and that you are there for her. She's lucky to have you!

The First 10!

Well, the shopping didn't go too well.
