How would circumcision prevent or even reduce the chances of transmission of HIV? If you're having unprotected sex, wouldn't it be in the bodily fluids? I just don't get it, this whole thing in Africa is mind boggling. How can they possibly do this to an entire continent? They should be providing funds for teaching and implementing better hygiene. I mean honestly, how can people be so stupid?

Exactly!

You seem to get it.

I just feel bad for all those boys and men in Africa that will see this as a ticket to the "all you can eat" at the "unprotected sex buffet." You just don't know who to trust anymore. I thought the WHO was a good one, but I guess I was wrong. *Sigh*

I am going to hazard a guess and say that because circumcision changes the glans of the penis from a mucous membrane to normal skin - that it is more difficult for pathogenic microbes to penetrate (parden the pun) the surface of the skin.
