Hot tub ok 2 wks after c-section?

I know hot tubs are off limits during pregnancy and baths are not recommended after vaginal deliveries. But does anyone know anything about going in a hot tub after a scheduled c-section? Bad for incision or anything?

I don't know about hot tubbing, but I seem to recall that I wasn't allowed to even take a bath for 4-6 weeks after my c-section 2 1/2 years ago. It does seem to be a bit early to me, but I would definitely call and check with your OB. If you're just dying to do it this weekend, I would at least call to see if your OB's office has an on-call doc to talk to.

Good Luck and let us know will ya? I'm having a repeat C-sec on Tuesday and a hot tub in a couple of weeks, sounds really good!

Honestly, I'm not sure... I do recall that my OB told me to wait the 6 weeks with both c-section, but that was because I was dilated and there is a risk of infection. I think a hot bath would be safer than a hot tub, bacteria wise anyway.

Hope this helps!

I wasn't allowed. I wasn't scheduled, but I was 6 weeks before term due to HELLP syndrome, and had not been showing any kind of pre-term labor sign, but I think you might dilate AFTER, to dispose of the extra tissue. I had just as much lochia as after my VBAC. Or, just maybe, the doctor assumed dilation without checking. (This was the OB I'd been seeing. She knew the what & how of the birth.) She did specifically say it was about my cervix being open, rather than the incision. (I could shower to my hearts content, no restriction.)

I really wanted the hot-tub, too. I'd been stressed out and I tend to toss and turn in bed when that happens. Try doing that with your stomach muscles not working, and the neck & shoulders pay massively.
