Very erratic for 7 years, was told I have polycystic ovaries which I don't have cysts. Deep down I knew it was my eating and then starving. Only now I am starting to recover, I have had a period every month for 4 months. Some lighter than others but I need realise that gaining weight is for my health ad hopefully have children in the future. Without a period you run the risk of becoming infertile.........this is the last thing I want.

Good luck,

Here for you anytime,

I have not yet got my period back, but mine could be for a number reasons. I have a tumor on my colon and uterus and that may be the cause. I do know that you can get a prescription drug that can help start them again. Each person is different, what does your doctor say? I have heard that some do restart their periods, like the actress Tracy Gold and I have a friend that started hers up again. I think it also depends on how long you have been anorexic too. I hope this helps a little!! Love, Sharon

Hi-- I still don't get mine. Was anorexic for over two years but last year put on 25 pounds and started binging/purging for a little while. Now I'm not "doing" any "behaviors" except night eating; I am a "healthy" weight according to all charts and tables (heavier than I was before I ever had the ED) and have been for over a year, and still no period.

I did have one glorious day of spotting last month, but I have not had a full on period since 2000.

My gyno put me on ProVera to induce my period, which kind of worked the first time. The second time, no dice. Also, I won't take birth control pills because I don't like meds.

A friend of mine was a dancer and said that it took a while for hers to come back once she left dance. But hers came back.

I would love to know how long it took others' periods to return...I often feel freaked out about it myself.

Hi. It returns when your weight comes up and your body "thinks" it is "healthy". It took mine a while to come back. Hang in there!

Hi!

I was anorexic for about 20 yrs. For a short while there they did stop for about 6 months, went into my gyno and he told he I just needed to put on some weight. Ask me if I could do that and told him I could.

Did put on a whole 5 lbs. and they came back as normal as can be and like clock work. This was about 6 yrs. into my anorexia, then I became pregnant 2 yrs later with my daughter althou by all standards I was still wayyyyyyyyy underweight. Put on 32 lbs, while prego and my daughter was born good and healthy "Thank GOD". I was 115 lbs when I had her.

My gyno said if I had a 5 lber, that would be great for me, because I am only 5 ft. and very very petite. She ended up being 6 lbs. even.

That how it went for me, still had them after too and like clock work, until I became menopausal.....................

I didn't have mine for 15 months, as soon as I gained back some weight, it returned. I've had it regularly for the past 5 years.
