i'm so upset.... i went to a ski shop today to do my winter ski shopping... (sadly, i have to buy everything new, because nothing fits me from last year, it's all too big - and i don't have the money!).... so i'm in the store, and i'm looking at ski pants. and this sales woman decides to come help me. i'm thinking fine, she's being nice. but the first thing she says is.... "i'm guessing you're around a size 6?" i'm like ah! first of all no, i wish. i'm a size 8. and then she's' like "well all the small sizes are around the same size anyhow" what?! ah! oh my gosh. i was so ashamed. so i tried on some pants that she picked out (size 8) and one medium of another make. since they're all made differently some fit fine and some were swimming and some were a little snug. one i came out in fit fine everywhere like my legs, and my hips, and the length was fine (i usually have trouble finding long enough pants anywhere) but the waist was rather big. now, i've got a disproportionate waist as it is. it doesn't fit with the rest of my body, it's like 2 sizes too small for the rest of me. i was looking in the mirror doing all the new pants look around and feel how they feel thing, looking at myself - and then i ran my hands around the waist which was a little big. and the woman looks at the pants as i was looking in the mirror and says "well maybe you could gain some weight." ha! i just kind of chuckled and said, "ah, no it's okay" hinting that she was a loser for saying that. i was so ashamed and embarrassed. ew, why would she say that? ugh. so i methodically tried on some more and eventually bought a pair for $260. plus!.... a pair of mitts and some long underwear combining around $90. the woman even hassled me about my weight when i was trying on the long underwear! ack! *sigh* that's my story of the day. spending over $300 and getting told to gain some weight. so then, why do i feel SO fat right now? i want to cut off all my fat so i'm proportionate with my waist. i don't know what to say - i'm in such a state... ~lauren

Hi Lauren, I am sorry you had a bad experience. Either this woman has no idea what she was doing, or she is dealing with her own body image issues and was envious, in which case she was probably in denial about what she was doing.

Try not to let it ruin your day and enjoy the new clothes you bought.

Love & hugs, Kristina
