How did your doctor's appointment go? I have been praying for you and wondering how you have been doing. Let us know when you can and I will continue to pray.

Kristina,

Thank you so much for your prayers!!! My Dr. seems confident that it is an eczema, however he was very sensitive to my concern. So, I have a mammogram appt. today at noon and he would like for me to schedule an appt. with a brest surgeon to confirm his thoughts. In the meantime, he prescribed a steroid cream to treat the rash. So, as of right now, I am still not sure exactly what it is. I was lucky to get in today for a mammogram considering it is New Year's Eve, but I probably won't get to see the breast surgeon until next week.

My DH (who went with me yesterday, and got a taste of the waiting room and wait time at the OB/GYN's office :) thinks that the rash already has responded to the topical, but I am still scared silly. I don't think my mind will be at rest until something is confirmed one way or another. I know that if I can beat the demons in my head, cancer doesn't have a chance! At least I slept well last night--I was so mentally and physically exhausted! My mother and stepfather were in town until yesterday and that contributed to my anxiety. Her bulimia puts a strain on our house--her behaviors, constant need for attention, etc. I cannot even confide my medical fears to my own mother because I know she will make it about herself and over-dramatize the situation. My stepmother and MIL have been rocks, as well as my patient, loving DH; younger brother; and a good friend at work.

Thank you again for your prayers and concern--it means so much to me!

I had a mammogram on Wednesday and that came back normal, meaning the Dr. did not see any lumps or areas of concern (except for the glaring red rash on my nipple!) That is good news, since the cancer associated with these types of rashes usually has an underlying mass associated with it. My DH thinks that the topical steroid that the my OB/GYN prescribed is definitely helping. I am not so sure, by I can be overly critical :) My MIL, the nurse, says that I need to give the cream time to work and results usually won't be seen for several days to over a week, so I just need to be patient. On a side note, patience is one of my week points, and something I am going to work on in 2004!

I still need to see the breast surgeon so that he can determine if any further tests need to be conducted. My guess is that if the cream does not clear up the rash, they will probably want to biopsy the area. The good news is that I am not as worried and emotional, although I am not overly optimistic either. Thank you to those (esp. Kristina!) who had me in their prayers--I know that they are a big part of my good news (so far). God has been so good to me and I am truly thankful for all of the good things in my life!

Hey, I am so glad you keep getting good news. That's really great. I will start praying specifically for the rash to go away. Let us know what happens.

Gotta run for now!
