I just read your two last posts (to each other) and I just wanted to encourage you and emphasize that it does get easier and you can recover.

Grace, you were talking about bingeing, trying to work it off, laxatives, etc. - boy if I could tell you the many, many times I have been there. Therapy stirs up a lot of stuff and yes (Rayah and Grace) then just going home is hard. We don't have that on/off switch for our emotions and actually we are trying very hard to BE in touch with our emotions. If you see an increase initially in your ED behaviours, what ever they may be, don't let that discourage you.

For me it was hard initially to identify that I purged or binged, etc. due to some emotional reason. Then after a while I was able to make the connection. Next I was able to identify the emotions and not always act on them with ED but talk to someone, or journal, etc. depending on the situation. And eventually I just started dealing with my emotions in an appropriate manner. It wasn't anything in particular I did and it didn't happen overnight, it was just a continued effort (through therapy, God/prayer, group meetings, sponsors in 12 step programs, friends and family.....) to get better. When you get discouraged, talk to a friend or loved one who knows about your struggles, post a message, or call someone. This is where 12-step programs come in handy because you can get a sponsor and most sponsors let you call them 24/7. It comes in handy when you think you want to binge at 2 AM.

If you want to know more about 12-step programs you can either reply here or send me an email to kotabuddy@yahoo.com. Just don't give up. Recovery is hard but it really is worth it. I can't put into words how liberating it feels not to have that urge to binge, or not to have any desire what so ever to take a laxative or throw up even when I do feel I ate a bit too much, or to eat meals without fear, to go to parties without fear of what I might do with food, not to starve myself, etc. Life is SO much better when you are not controlled by food or some other substance.

Hang in there Girls (not just Rayah and Grace) - you are doing great even if it doesn't feel like it at times. I am praying for all of you here.

Love & hugs, Kristina

Thank youfor the note... I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to respond earlier. I've been very busy. Your support here is priceless.
