Should I worry about not eatting
| Sun, 06-13-2004 - 11:58am |
i do not want to eat. It started when I stop eatting chocolate and other salty things. Then it has to deal with my husband looking at porn. Now it is because I jumping moods. I do not want to eat and most of it is a force thing. When I do eat I feel so bad as if i did something really wrong. It is the only thing I can control and I can't keep cutting myself because my husband will know. I am one meds for depression and I am taking a sleeping pill. I just have no control over nothing except what goes in my body. Is that so wrong. I truly do need to lose some weight because I am 30 pound over weight. Am i okay for not eatting? Should I worry, about it, it is not affecting me at all. I want to ignor it. I need a control of something and this is it.

Hi positivemind,
I think the fact that you can identify that you don't want to eat because it is the only thing you can control is great insight. But eating or not eating isn't something we should or shouldn't do out of a need for control. Eating is something natural and we need to eat on a daily basis to sustain our bodies. Even if you do have to loose weight, it should be done sensibly with healthy, balanced meals and regular exercise.
If you are on antidepressants, are you seeing a psychiatrist? You should talk to the doctor who is prescribing these pills about all the emotional stuff you have going on. If he simply prescribes meds and that's it, then I would definitely try to find a good therapist you can see and talk to on a regular basis.

In addition to what Kristina suggested, I want to point out that some antidepressants can have a negative effect on appetite and/ or weight. This is one of the most common side effects. Not only that, they sometimes make depression worse. I'm speaking from experience here, and you may be different. However, it sounds like you are having lots of symptoms. Are the meds helping at all? How long have you been taking them? The sleeping medication is also a concern. I would look up your meds on a reputable website or go to the pharmacist and ask for information. I'm not a huge fan of antidepressants and have been *much* more successful at treating my own depression through natural methods than I was with meds. However, even switching drugs might help. Definitely talk to your doctor soon.
Good luck, prayers,
