Lately one of my biggest issues concering my eating disorder is watching what others eat. It has always been a problem, but now I find myself not eating a lot even if I am hungry or skipping meals if I know someone (particularly family members) havn't eaten.. it is really getting on my nerves and theirs, and I wish that I could commiserate with someone and see if anyone else has dealt with this before.

Hi Marissa,

It is not uncommon for people with EDs to compare themselves to others in general, and especially how they look and what and how much they eat. I went through this myself and still do to some degree. Although now it is mostly thoughts which are not followed by actions.

As you work on your recovery this, as well as the other ED symptoms, will slowly go away. Something you can do is sit down and start writing about it. See if you can figure out what that is really about. Talk to your therapist about it if you have one. If you are not seeing a therapist, I would strongly recommend it.

It's always hard to eat when you know that someone else has eaten less than you have that day.. that was always a problem for me.
