Jodee,

The reason taking pills like that is 'so bad' is because our bodies are designed to do all those things on their own, given the proper nutrition. With adequate food and fiber (from food), you should have bowel movements without a little pink pill. Bowel movements are meant to eliminate waste and toxins from the body, NOT to make us loose weight. Taking a 'natural' stool softener on occasion because you are constipated is one thing, taking synthetic laxatives on a daily basis to loose weight is another story.

And given adequate nutrition our bodies should have energy to function and shouldn't need pills for energy. In addition, any of the 'energy' pills on the market will in the long run do the opposite. They complete wear out your system, causing fatigue and a dependence on more and more energy pills. I am not just making this up. Any health practicioner will tell you this AND I've been there and had to painfully wean (sp?) myself off of them.

In a nutshell, you are depleting or starving your body of much needed nutrients, vitamins, minerals, throwing off your electrolyte balance, deyhdrating it, etc. The list is endless and it WILL end in health problems that, depending on the length of time you pop all these pills, will not be reversable.

I am 38 and I would say that I probably started having problems with food when I was 10 years old. At about age 24 I 'discovered' bulimia after leaning more in the anorexic area. From that time on until about 3 or so years ago I horribly abused my body with laxatives (big overdoses), binges, self-induced vomiting, and/or starvation. Looking back now I wish I could do things differently. You seem young so maybe you CAN do things differently but only YOU can make tht decision.
