Hi everyone! I'm new here. I'm kind of hoping for some assistance. My psychiatrist wants me to choose a food plan to follow so I won't slip up anymore, but I am having a really tough time finding or choosing one. I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience with this and, if so, what your suggestions are. Any help will be great! I feel kind of stuck right now. Thanks!!!

Hi and welcome to the board. It's really hard to find what works for you and what doesn't and some of it may have to be trial and error. If you can tell me a little more about yourself, food likes and dislikes, exercise, etc. I may have some suggestions. However, please email me at kotabuddy@yahoo.com. I don't like to discuss specific foods, plans, etc. online because it my trigger someone.

Love & hugs, Kristina

Hi swtcharity,

I am a 22 yr. old recovering bulimic (I'm not perfect...I do still binge and purge from time to time but it's improving). I've found what works best for me is to stay away from refined carbohydrates...things like white bread, suagry ceral with no fiber, cookies, cakes, etc...they just make me hungrier and hungrier (not to say that sometimes you might eat a candy bar or some starbursts or something...that's OK because you shouldn't deny yourself in moderation). I try to eat lean meats, whole-grain carbs, lots of veggies and fruit, non-fat dairy...it'll balance out your insulin levels & give you steady energy.

Hope that helps and good luck,

~Janine~
