I'm so worried!

I am anorexic and getting help, but I'm really nervous. I'm going into recovery and I'm deathly afraid to gain weight! I am used to eating about 800-1000 calories per day and I'm not overly skinny, I actually look of normal weight. I weigh about 112 and I'm 5'3, 23 years old. The doctor said we will slowly increase my calories so my body gets used to the change, so by doing this, do you think I will gain weight? I just want to maintaine my weight, not gain! If I eat about 1050 for a couple of days, and then move to 1100 for a few days, and then maybe 1200 for about a week. And then to 1300 for another week, do you think I'll gain weight from this??

Multiply your weight by .45 to get your weight in kg.
Then multiply by 24 kcal/day.
so for example, you weigh 112, so 112 x .45 = 50.4kg. then 50.4 x 24 = 1209.6. This is how many calories you need to take in each day JUST TO SURVIVE. This doesn't take any exercise or even normal daily activity into consideration. So I wouldn't worry about gaining weight by adding a few more caloreis. Good luck and congratulations on taking this step!

I think that is so cool sheri the whole calorie thing I would need about 1188 calories just to servive but that is hard for me to do so anyways just wnated to thankyou for sharing that calorie thing...
I think that the plan is awesoem I am just starting to accept the fact taht I have a disorder no plan just the thoughts of going into treatment witht he help of my therapist I also have a form of bipolar disorder and slight OCD and then an ED to top it all off.
I too am afraid to eat gain weight ect....but I work out and I have some muscle tone which I like so I know that in order to maintaine the muscle I have to eat the food which is hard cause if I am full I purdge and if I dont eat I feel great.....
and that is what I am trying to get over now .....
the thing is you are doing something very brave you are taking control back I still believe that I am in control I feel in control I have my therapist tell me I am not but I dont believe that just yet..
Keep up the good work you are so strong and brave and doing a great thing.....
all my best

Hi Kristy,
Sherri is right, you need a lot more calories per day than 800-1000 and that is just so your body can do it's 'thing' like pump blood through your veins and other important stuff. Then you need calories for every extra little thing you do like exercise, walking around, sitting down, getting up, even sitting at the computer and typing a message burns calories.
It sounds like this doctor knows what he is doing and if you increase slowly you should be just fine. I know this is scary, but once your body gets more calories, your metabolims will actually increase as well.
