Hi All,

Here is a handy little exercise you can do when you are upset about something. You can use it when you feel you have eaten too much, you are worried you are going to gain weight, someone else upset you, etc. This is similar to the exercise I have mentioned in the past from the book 'The Feeling Good Handbook'. However, this one is slightly modified and I got it from my therapist. She gave me a hardcopy and I simply put it into a spreadsheet so I could use it over and over. You can print it out or fill it out electronically.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Love & hugs, Kristina

Kristina,

That is great for you to share that. I have really needed something like that lately, so I will copy it when I am more awake, lol. I started AF today, so I have a headache and just feel blah...

Hugs, Michelle

Ok, but after you get all the percentages what do they mean?

Well, the purpose of this exercise is to show you how distorted your thoughts are, and how your distorted thoughts lead to negative feelings. Then you apply realistic, intelligent thoughts to your situation, which should (ideally) make you realize it’s not as bad as you initially thought, and therefore you should not feel quite as bad. The percentages are just rough guestimates to show how strongly you feel or believe in a particular thought.

No problem, it took me a while to get the hang of it, too. I really hope it helps you as well as everybody else.

Can you tell me what error message you got when trying to open it or why you were not able to? Do you have Microsoft Excel on your PC? If not, I can try to save it in a different format.

Let me know.
