How can you tell when you're hungry/full

OKay so I lost some weight on a 1,200 calorie diet (about a pound despite what the darned scale said today which said I gained the pound back) but anyway I'm like 95 pounds now and I just want to stay at the same weight for now and NOT gain. But I think I have a hard time finding out if I'm hungry or full. At night I feel full and content but I don't know if I'm too full or not. I wake up hungry the next morning and everything but still I'm not sure. And how can you tell when you're hungry? I know your stomach is supposed to make noises but mine doesn't unless I'm REALLY hungry. I usually eat when I think about food alot and I think how nice it would be to have that delicious (insert food here) in the kicten. But I'm not sure if this is real hunger or not. And I usually eat something if I feel tried or run down. How do I know if I'm hungry/full for sure?
Thanks for reading this!

Hi pictureperfect,
That is one of the tough things we have to learn over time. I personally don't think your stomach is supposed to make noises when you are hungry and also, you should eat BEFORE you get that hungry. Once you are feeling hungry your body easily goes into starvation mode and fat storage.
Knowing if you are really hungry takes some practice. If you feel hungry and want to eat something, you could sit down and ask yourself if there is anything emotional going on. You might try to journal about it and see if you can figure out if you are eating for emotional reasons or because you are truly hungry.
Or if it is an option you could work with a nutritionist. Someone who is experienced about nutrition AND EDs could help you figure out how many calories you roughly need per day based on your height, weight, and level of energy expenditure.
However, 95 lbs sounds REALLY low to me. I am not sure how tall you are but are you sure you are at a healthy weight at this point?

No, I'm not at a healthy weight yet. I'm 5'5" and I'm supposed to be at 112 pounds at least. I know that one day I will have to reach a normal weight but I'm just not ready yet. I just want to maintain for now and try to sort out my problems with feeling fat when I'm only 97 pounds. I just can't stand the feeling of fat in my stomach against my jeans and feeling like I jiggle when I walk. I hate it so much...
And the doctor won't let me have a nutritionist; I've asked him before. I'm pretty sure I'm not eating because of emotional reasons. When I have things like that going on it's the oppsite and I DON'T eat, haha.
Hi, I wanted to let you know about my post about triggers?
