Well, I finally found a new counselor. She charges a little more than my previous counselor ($55 vs. $22.50) but she has 15 years experience in treating people with EDs. I believe she struggled with an ED herself but I am not sure yet on that one. I had my first visit with her last Wednesday. It was just supposed to be a visit to see if I am fit for the ED group she leads on Monday nights. She invited me into the group (which re-starts Jan. 9) and I also decided to meet with her individually every other week.

I am excited about working with her. My criteria was that it be a female, she has experience with EDs, that she is a Christian, and that she is covered by insurance. Unfortunately she is not covered by insurance but I feel this is where I need to be.

She already recommended two books which I ordered. They are 'Life Without Ed: How One Woman Declared Independence from Her Eating Disorder and How You Can Too' by Jenni Shaefer, and 'Eating in the Light of the Moon: How Women Can Transform Their Relationship With Food Through Myths, Metaphors & Storytelling (Paperback)' by Anita Johnston. I will let you all know how they are as soon as I get them.

Love & hugs, Kristina

Hi Kristina,

I'm so glad you have found someone new -- and that you have a group to go to also.

She is not a licensed counselor in the network of my health insurance policy so I have to pay out of pocket.
