I was just wondering.. Ive read that if you've dieted and lost weight (I lost too much weight due to restriction but now Im trying to regain back my weight -about 10 to 15 lbs) that the weight u gain back will all be fat and that my metabolism will be slower than it was before I began restricting.

So here it goes... although I lift weights will it be true that I will never be able to have a normal metabolism once Ive gained the weight back? Im not really trying to gain 2-3 lbs a week, Im just trying to eat healthy high calorie meals (olive oil, nuts, avacado, pb.. etc)

Thank you for your time! It means a lot :)

Hi -

I don't know where you read that but it sounds like pure garbage to me.

Hi pinklady3,

I personally believe that it is possible to 'rebuild' your metabolism so to speak. It may take a while depending on how long you have had your ED, but you should be able to get there. I used to vascilate between bulimia and anorexia for roughly 22 years and when I had my metabolism checked last year my doctor said it's above average for a female my age. Not a female who has had an ED but a female in general. So if it's possible for me to get back to a healthy metabolism than I don't know why it wouldn't be possible for you.

I hope this helps.

Love & hugs, Kristina

I think it's awful that someone could publish that kind of information as fact.

Thank you for that post :)

I make sure I get a bunch of calcium (Im eating yoghurts, cheeses, whole milk, etc.)Not only does cooking with heathier foods (olive oil, canola, etc.) and eating normally has its benefits, but its tastes a lot better than what I used to live off of!

Ive noticed my body has a lot to go through in order to get better (getting used to the amounts of food, bloating, etc.) but I have got to keep it up, and I just wanted to make sure I didnt make too great of damage that would still affect me once Im healthy again. Ive noticed its not as easy to gain as I thought it would be even once Ive started eating. One step at a time though, I'll be comming back to this board and checking in to see if I can help anyone or maybe need some help myself.

Thanks again :)
