Why do I deprive myself?

Now I'm not talking food, but you could use that if you want to in considering my question.

OK.  I got out of the daily binge/purge thing between 1 1/2 and 2 years ago.

I still deprive myself though.  I am all work and no play.  And they say to be successful you have to know when it's time to play.

I want to be successful ... but I still push and push and if it's not one thing then it's another.  I feel if I'm behind on anything then I simply can't take time out.

Then I get exhausted and I have to stop.

Any insights?

Hi Diana. Play time & rewards can help you take a break, clear your mind, re-focus and ultimately gather strength to keep going. Even something as small as taking a longer bath (if you enjoy baths) instead of a quick shower in the morning could help you invest in yourself a bit and renew your strength. Just a thought - if you're happier, you might find you have more energy and strength and spring in your step to devote to the items on your to-do lists. Don't know if any of this makes sense or if it helps. Hang in there and set a playful/reward goal for yourself for the day and/or week. If you need accountability, I can help you out with that. -Nicole

Hi Diana,

I struggle with that one, too, but it has gotten better. Maybe you could decide what you would LIKE to do and then commit to one hour of it no matter what else needs to get done. Would being accountable to us help you actually 'play'? Maybe you could post your plan here and then check back in. Basically I think it just takes practice and as you start doing it, or making yourself do it, it gets easier.

Love & hugs, Kristina

Hi Diana.

I'm sorry things are tough right now. It seems from your posts that you're starting to adjust your expectations on yourself, which is great! Maybe keeping things in balance will help make everything more fun. Just a thought. Have you set aside fun time today? How about fun plans for the rest of the week? Let us know how we can hold you accountable to keeping life full of fun.

Sincerely,
Nicole

There's so much to be done around here, I don 't see how I could take time off.
