Hi Crystal,
Welcome to the board! I am sorry I am just now replying. My husband and I were out of town part of the weekend.
There are many clinical definitions for the various eating disorders (EDs). I don't know if you fit any of them but I personally think that any time you deprive your body of nourishment, make yourself throw up, take diet pills, etc. you have an ED. Wanting to lose weight IF you are overweight is ok and actually healthy, but how you go about it is important. Imagine driving a car and not putting gasoline in that car. It will eventually run out of gas and stop running. It's the same thing with our bodies and fuel. So many people don't realize that food ultimately is meant to fuel your body. Not only does your body need fuel to do all the things you do like take care of your kids, get out of bed, walk around the house or outside, etc. but your body needs fuel JUST to survive. It needs fuel to help you breathe, to pump blood through your body, etc.
I do realize that when you have an ED it's not as simple as telling yourself that your body needs food, but it is something I want you to keep reminding yourself of. In addition, I really want to encourage you to find a good therapist. If you are not familiar with the 'why' of eating disorders it would be good if you could read up on them. Just type 'eating disorder' in your search engine and you should get many definitions. You can also go to www.somethingfishy.org and read about them there. That site will also have a link to resources which should include therapists. A trained therapist can help you get to the core issue or issues that led you to have an ED in the first place.
You can also go to group meetings like www.overeatersanonymous.org (OA), www.eatingdisordersanonymous.org (EA), or www.celebraterecovery.com. All should list meeting times and places in your area and all of them use the 12 steps for recovery. Meetings are free and you will meet many others struggling with the same or similar issues and you will get great support.
Last but not least I hope you will continue to post here to get support. We try to get back to people the same day and you will meet other members here who can relate to what you are going through.
Love & hugs, Kristina

I can't say if you have an ED or not, but you are welcome here!
I hope that you can drop some of the weight in a healthy way but stay healthy and don't go to far. It is not realistic to want to be 95 lbs again. For one thing you were 17 and for another it's underweight.
Hugs,
Hi lscott,
Welcome to our community. I don't know whether you have an eating disorder or not, but I do urge you to go and see your doctor to tell him/her what has been happening. Should your doctor say that you do suffer from ED, do ask for a referral to a therapist to help you figure out why you are turning to ED and what are the root causes for it.
If you are purging as a desperate weight-losing measure, ask your doctor for a referral to a nutritionist. A nutritionist can guide and support you on your diet. I've many friends who have lost a lot of weight with the help of a nutritionist, whilst eating foods they do like and in quantities that are adequate in order to make them feel satiated after a meal whilst remaining within their recommended daily calorie intake. As for exercise, maybe investing in a personal trainer for a couple of sessions can also be beneficial to you.
I hope this helps you a bit. Please do come back to tell us how you are doing!
Best,
