I am quitting smoking.

And so I am feeling really vulnerable.

It has been since Friday night -- some serious withdrawal tho I am using the patch.

I smoked so much sitting at the computer I am spending a lot of time away from it ...

Serious on my mind is the fear that I could go backward with the ed, which is just as deadly for me as continuing to smoke is.

Time's up for me, not a question anymore of messing around with any of it, the food, the smoke, any of it.

If I want a future, and I do.  I want to live to be a really old lady.

See ya around --

Congrats on your decision to quit smoking!! Try to envision your healthy lungs and being able to live a longer fuller life. Take baby steps and reward your daily progress. Try to envision your life when your much older and how much more difficult it would be to quit smoking then and also how much easier you will be able to breathe.
Lots of luck!

Ah, (((Laurie))) thank you.

I am breathing so much better already -- and the wheezing is gone.

Diana that's awesome. Keep it up and keep us posted. I know you can do this.

You need a very big ((((((((((hug))))))))))

I'm so sorry that you were in a situation that was so triggering for you. I hope that you are feeling safe or safer now, and that a lot of the stress has gone away on its own. Right now it's important that you don't punish yourself or go into the punishing talk with yourself. You've already taken very big steps in your life, but you can't expect that between the time that you made the decision to not smoke or binge again that you wouldn't fall off the wagon. For a very long time, these have been the way that you dealt with stress, and it's going to take time to find new, healthier and more positive ways to cope with it.

If you are angry or sad with yourself, please don't. We have to be as forgiving and as supportive towards ourselves as we are towards others. Today is not only a new day, but also a new week, and we have a clean slate and a clean start.

At the Self-Injury board, we often reccomend that members write a list of positive

Good for you Diana. I'm about to join you. I quit for the last year but have been smoking again for about a month. If you want any tips and support I'm here for you. I found the QNet to be very supportive, although it's a busy place! Are you posting at the kick butt quitters board? That might be helpful too, although last time I was there it was a pretty quiet place.
