Hi So Cal Runner!

Sorry for butting in like this on a question that you asked Diana. As CL's we are obligated to be on the boards at least three times per week. The amount of time a CL will spend on a board really depends on each board. A busy board with losts of posters and posts will naturally take up more time than a quieter board.

I try to go to the boards on a daily basis because I can, and because on two of the boards I'm the lone CL. Also, the boards that I moderate are sensitive ones and a lot of the times when a member does post it means that they are going through a crisis. Having gone through a number of crises myself, I know how excruciating it can be to wait for a reply, so I try to not make anyone wait if possible.

Being a CL is very rewarding. I've made a lot of friends through being a CL, both with other posters and with other CL's. I've met so many different and interesting people from around the world, and each have enriched my life. I've also learned so much about so many things.

I hope this helps!

I devote a varying amount of time, when I'm at my best and time allows, I check in a couple times a day.

Hi Poppy. I'm glad you "butted in" to provide some insight into what it's like being a cl. Thank you! It's a tough decision because I am already a busy person and don't want to over-extend myself only to let people down. But, it's something that I keep thinking about and wondering if I should apply. Anyhow...thanks again for your input; it'll help with the decision.

Hi Diana. Thanks for your feedback on the time-committment question. I'm still thinking about whether or not I should apply. Considerations: 1) would I be over-extending myself; and 2) am I far enough along in the recovery path to actually provide sound advice to others going through this. I think it would be fun to co-cl with you though...so...several factors weighing in on whether or not I should apply. Thanks again. Love, so_cal

You could try a dry run for awhile before you apply, if that would be more comfortable for you -- just a thought.

Are you talking about the attach a file feature? That's when you want to attach a file of some kind to your post - a photo, a document, etc.
