no period..

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could help me or give advice. I havent had my period for months because I was anorexic, but I am no longer anorexic and I have a healthy diet that includes eggs, beans, olive oil, nuts, fish etc. and I do some activity/sport that include weight lifting (only about 2/3 times a week) and some cardio (run/walk/etc.) but not to an extreme. I am now considered a healthy weight for my height. I would really like to know what I can do in order to trigger my period. also i was wondering what are the lasting health complications that result from this and is it possible i have lost my period forever? thank you in advance

Hi pinklady3 and Welcome.
How great that you've restored your weight to within a healthy weight range and are continuing on a healthy eating and exercise track! Have you done this on your own, or have you had help from a treatment team (doctor, dietician, therapist, etc)? Several of the questions you raise are more medical in nature and should be discussed with your doctor, as that individual knows your personal and medical history. However, I can tell you that even though your body may be within a healthy weight range for your age and height, everyone has their own individual set point weight, which is the weight at which your body is most healthy and normal menstruation occurs. Again, this is probably a concept that you should talk with your treatment team, if you have one, or your doctor about.
We're glad you're here on the board and I hope you come back often to share how you're feeling and how your on-going recovery is going.
hugs,

(Im glad 2 hear you cant lose your period forever)

You are still very young!
Also remember that it takes time for our bodies to recover fully, especially when it comes to the hormonal cycles. After my SIL had a stroke it had taken her nearly 8 months to get her period back, and it's still not very regular.
