In my opinion, unless it's medically necessary (for cycle regulation, etc), don't do it. I gained weight on the last pill I was on. I'm not underweight, so I didn't need or want the extra pounds. I was doing really good with my eating and body image issues until this pill. It slowed my metabolism and I gained weight. I went into a panic and started restricting again. I've been off them for five months. The weight came off when I stopped taking them, but the behavior continues. I won't be going on any more hormonal birth control. It triggered me bad and sent me into a downward spiral again. My husband and I don't want children, but I can't handle the weight gain aspect of the birth control.

Hello, Meg, and welcome to the ed board.

This would be a question for you and your doctor to discuss.
