I quit eating for 4 monthes sometime ago
and went from weighing 175lbs to 90lbs.
I am 5'8 and I looked horrible. I dropped
the weight in 3 monthes and after 4 started
eating again. Now I am about 115 to 120. I
am still trying to gain weight and nothing
works. I eat alot and fattening foods like
french fries,battered fried fish fillets
lots of other crap and still gain no weight.
How can I gain weight. I want to be about
145lbs. I should be a size 8 to 10 for my
body frame. I still look to skinny. Please
anyone help.

Hummm,After I posted this I read some of
your posts and I think I maybe in the wrong
place as many of you are still back and fourth
with and eating disorder and I flat out want
to gain weight. I hope I haven't made anyone
upset here with the fact that I want to gain
weight.

Hi broken07! Welcome to the board!

I'm not sure about your past medical history. But if you suffered weight loss due to a eating disorder such as anorexia, bulimia, exercise compulsion, etc. and you are currently dealing with an eating disorder or are in the stages of recovery, you have definately found the right place. This is a very supportive board for people in all different stages of handling an eating disorder. Some of us have just admitted to the issue and some been completed formal treatment for while. You are more than welcome to join in our discussions!

As for you gaining weight...there are much more healthier ways to gain weight other than eating the junk. Eating the junk can lead to bigger physiological problems in the long run (cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc). You may want to look into eating healthy carbs, protein, etc. Here's a link to another message board dedicated to weight gain not associated to eating disorders. http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-fbundrweight

Welcome to the board!

All I can say is that the body takes some time to even out and may naturally get you to a weight that you should be eventually.

There might be a board for people who have trouble putting on weight that you could check out. I'll have to get back to you on that. I don't want to send you away from here, it's just another option.

Keep doing what you're doing and keep posting here.

I'm having trouble gaining weight too! I eat 2000 calories a day but I'm still losing! I'm 5'7; 113 which isn't THAT thin but I havn't had my period in 6 monthes so I guess I have to gain a little. But I think that it's great that you want to gain weight! I look in the mirror and I still see fat so I don't want to gain. I wish I did. Anyways, GOOD LUCK!

Hi!

You know, you wouldn't have to give up these things completely, they could be a special treat once in awhile.

Yes,I have checked out the underweights
board. I went to the doctor about a week
ago and I guess I have gained some weight.
He had me at 138 so I guess you take away
5lbs for your clothing and shoes. This is
so much better then I was at 98lbs a year
ago. Thanks hugs to you to!
