well, hello everyone...

i am just posting this topic to get your feelings...

i am an 18 year old male, and i have/had a 15 year old female friend who doveloped an eating disorder...anorexia...

i was the only one who knew about her disorder,so after i went to college and she was in her sophomore year in HS she finally admitted to herself that she had one she stopped talking to me...and to this day wont talk to me...

so i told her parents about her eating disorder...

they didnt believe me at first, but as time went on, they caught on, and on her 16th birthday (november 2nd 2006), they confronted her...that was about a month after i told them...

so now she is seeing a therapist...well, she did...im not sure if she still is, i havnt been in contact with anyone from the family since i told them...i talk to her dad at sporting events, but we never talk about her...thats not really my place...

the reason i post this all, is for the people who are/were in her situation...

how do, or did you feel about the person who may have told your parents, or told anyone about your eating disorder...

i read somewhere where sometimes people with ed's leave hints and clues to people, almost as a "cry for help" as they put it...she gave me her passwords to her myspace accounts...the one that was devoted to her ed.

so it was just a matter of time before i found out...

i did, and i had to tell her parents...it was my obligation...

i would like to hear how you feel about the person who confronted you, or told someone about your ed...

do you hate them???

do you see what they did as "help"

are you embarrassed that they found out, or that you told them?

i only ask because i dont want my friend to hate me for trying to do (what i think) is the right thing...

please any responses would be great

thank you, and i wish everyone the best of luck, and as much hope as i have for my best friend...is the same hope i have for everyone in need

One of the people I told was my guy friend and he is a senior and I'm a freshman so me and him and you and her are the same ages apart! I think it's good that you told her family but if my friend had told my family and I told him not to tell I would be very upset and feel betrayed and like I could never trust him again. I think one day she will realize that what you did was the right thing. It might take some time though. I think definately once she recovers she will be very thankful but recovery takes a LONG time. But just be patient and maybe ask her how she is doing one day. I hope I helped!
