As for the past decade almost I have had trouble with the way I look. I suppose in the past year it has gotten worse. I don't really have the side effects of anorexia, mainly the one is I still get my period. My BMI is 14 and doctors, families and my counselors all seem to think I"m in the danger zone. They want me to seek treatment at a hospital and two weeks ago, my doctor had a freak out over me losing more weight and sent me to the ER. However, I am not really anorexic because I still get my periods. How can I tell everyone I'm fine when they don't believe me? Yes, I do restrict my eating, yes I weight myself three times a day, and yes, I see a giant lump of nobody when i look at myself. However, I get my periods. I am 27 and I buy my clothes in a size 12 in the girls department, but that doesn't mean I'm anorexic...I have no idea. Everyone says yes, but the the main focus i have is the period. Help me. I need real answers from real women. Thank you!

I believe you do have anorexia and you should definately get help ASAP! Anorexia can be just as dangerous and deadly as cancer if it is untreated. I KNOW I would have died if I didn't get help when I did. If you are very dangerously underweight (which you are) and your still restricting food and still think you are fat then you have a problem. It's nothing to be ashamed of. It's not your fault. But you need help even if you don't feel like you do. Not having your period is only one side effect of anoriexia. Just because you don't have the physical problems that eventually come with anorexia doesn't mean you don't have it. I have all the symtoms of it but I'm not underweight. My bmi is 18. Which is a tad underweight but technically I'm not thin enough to be anorexic. You have to have a bmi of 17.5 of less to be concidered anorexic. But I definately am and it took me a long time to realize that I have a problem. Talk to someone about this. A life with anorexia is no life at all. Don't think you don't have a problem just because you still get your period. PLEASE talk to a doctor! I'll be praying for you!

Hi there, and welcome!

There are a lot of other signs of anorexia, and I think that maybe relying on the fact that you still get your periods could be
