I am new to this board, but ever so grateful I found it.

I'm married with two children from a previous marriage and my husband and I want to try for a third.

I don't really know much about this topic, so I don't know how helpful I'll be ;)

I haven't heard of buying specimens yourself w/o going through a doctor ... though I have heard of couples successful with more informal donations that way (e.g. a lesbian couple who got a donation from a friend and did their own insemination).

My doctor had to sign authorization paperwork that basically states I'm under her care and that it is okay to ship to my home address.

Good luck and welcome! I don't have experience with DI, but just wanted to say hi and wish you luck!

HI! First welcome to the board. You are in the right place! My DH and I do our insems at home. I always order 2 vials. We go through Midwest Sperm Bank. Their shipping is really affordable, and they let you have long donor profiles for free. I use 2 vials per cycle. I always start testing with an ovulation predictor kit about a week before I expect ovulation. I recommend using the digital ones, they are much better. When I get my positive test, I do one insem that night, and then the other about 24 hours later. I have found that because my cycle isnt text book, I am going to have to change it up a bit. It all depends on your body. Everyones is different. My DH usually helps me get it ready, but doesnt want any part of the "inserting" process. He usually just keeps me company for the hour that I have to sit there and wait. I guess thats his way of being involved. I hope this helps you! Good luck!

First, you have no idea how better I feel just hearing from someone who has done this at home!
