I live in upstate New York. We did a shared donor cycle with another couple, also anonymous. Our donor produced 28 eggs; we got 14 of them. Eleven eggs were mature and were injected. Five fertilized, and three embryos made it to 5-day blast stage. We transferred a single embie (froze the other two), and our darling daughter was born 9 months later.

We also agreed to assume the risk in the event our donor produced 10 or fewer eggs. If that had happened, we would have received all the eggs, but would have had to immediately pay the other couple's costs, as well as all the donor's meds.

Total cost to us: $7,000 or exactly half of the regular $14,000 for IVF with donor eggs. Yeah, I'd say it was worth it! The only (minor) inconvenience was waiting for the other recipient to be ready for the transfer -- there was a delay of about a week while all three of us got synchronized. No biggie at all.

Check out the "Attain IVF Program" at http://www.integramedfertility.com/inmdweb/content/cons/shared.jsp

The Attain™ IVF Program

Increase your chance of success with IVF!

Overview

Thousands of people have made their dream of having a family come true through In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment. But the reality is that most people will require more than one IVF cycle to be successful. And patients who commit to three cycles almost double their chances of having a baby.
The Attain IVF Program, formerly known as the IntegraMed® Shared Risk® Refund Program, is designed to increase your opportunity to get the outcome you want--a baby--while managing the cost of IVF treatment.

A lot of clinics do shared cycles but very few go the shared risk route like SG.

Max, I would suggest looking for a known donor instead of an unknown donor, that might help with cost.
