Hi everyone
My husband was told he had tongue cancer in Oct 2005 he went through a lot (look at earlier postings). He was told on Holy Thursday the cancer was no longer there and the treatments worked. Will he said he did not feel good even after the good news. He got really sick by Easter. On Monday I took him to the doctors and was told he had a cold in his chest and thrush again in his mouth. We did what the doctor said and by Thursday he had fevers of 102.9 we went to the emergency room and they took him right in and told us he has pnuemonia in both lungs and a yeast infection in his blood stream which is attacking his lungs and his kidneys. We believe he got the infection from the port for the chemo and the feeding he was doing at home. He was in intensive care for over a week and was transferred to a hospital in pa for dialysis. They beleive the kidneys will work again. Its been a rough two and a half weeks very scary too. He is finally out of intensive care and is doing better the infection is gone the pnuemonia finally cleared up.He also had fluid around the lungs from the kidneys. I wonder if God knows now enough is enough I really done know how much more he or i can take. Well I have to go now more later.

''What caused your kidney damage and do you have to do dialysis? ''

My kidney's crashed as a direct result of chemo, the drugs were too strong and my kidneys finally shut down.

Oh M26, I am so sorry he is having this kind of problem.. About eating according to DD she has no appetite either.. I fully understand your frustration but as DD reminded me (rather pointedly) it's not something we can fix by fussing.. My other DD was told that it can take 6 months for the chemo to leave and about a year to get over it all. If he has a fungal thrush infection then food tastes terrible.. Will pray for you both as you have been such a help..
We are not out of the woods for my middle DD.. They found cancer in the jaw bones so radiation is started, on Thursday she had a double mastectomy and another ??patch from her throat when they intubated.. They sent her lumps to Scripts for testing and it looks like she will have chemo as well. I am such a wreck but she is just fighting it all.. Her comment about the mastectomy was they promised to in 4 months to make her a perky "B" and she would never sag.. LOL Praying for you Rusty
