Mom in hospital again...

After Mom's great news, we weren't expecting another downturn, but she is in the hospital again. She has epilepsy, but has never had more than 5 seizures in her life. Monday night she had 5 seizures in two hours. She is currently in ICU with a nurse at her bedside 24 hours a day. She is delusional and confused. She can't even hold a conversation because she only is say 3 words/phrases.

Please pray for her.

Judy, thanks. I think that since the chemo causes the body to metabolize things differently, that he body was not metabolizing her medication well. They have increased her dosage of anti-seizure medicine.

The good news is that she woke up coherent this morning! I even talked to her on the phone, although she probably won't remember it tomorrow!

Anyway, I have been worried about you! I saw that you were looking for a co-CL. Are you doing OK?

GOOD NEWS! My mom is HOME! She woke up yesterday coherent and able to hold a converstation. I talked to her on the phone at lunch. I called again last night, and they had let her go home. Unfortunately, she didn't remember that we even had talked earlier that day. Seizures always mess with her short term memory. It usually takes a few weeks for her to get back to normal. I don't know how long this will take, since there were so many.

They have increased her anti-seizure meds, and my dad will not leave her alone at all. He wants someone to watch over her in case it happens again. They have rescheduled the appointment, and told the docs that she will not take any more chemo treatments.

Thanks for the prayers!

I've always thought about hosting a board. I mostly think about it in the summer, when I have all kinds of free time. During the school year, when I'm teaching, I sometimes don't get to post except for the weekends, so I'm afraid to take on the responsibility of posting. KWIM?

I wanted to make sure that you were OK, and things were going well for you. I'm glad you are feeling so much better that you have more energy to enjoy life these days!

Judy - You have been through so much, which you told me about when I first posted here. I appreciate your struggles with cancer even more after all that my mom has gone through in the last 6 months. I admire your thirst for life and living, and I think of you often.

I teach 4th grade in a Catholic School. I really like it. It's my third year there, and the atmosphere is awesome.

This seems like the kind of board that I would appreciate being a part of because it's slow ;) and there would be an awesome partner ;). My biggest worries are that I wouldn't have time (especially mid-winter), and that I don't have enough background knowledge in this area. I see the posts that you give to people. You are a fountain of knowledge. You have so much information at your fingertips and I feel like I've only seen the tip of the iceberg. It's another one of those ways that you amaze me. I'm not sure this is my area of expertize. KWIM?
