wow im really new to this..i just found out this evening that my dad, who i have not seen or talked to in about 6 years, has known he has colo-rectal cancer since late last year...he has gone through surgery(not sur what they removed) and treatments but my aunt says he isnt very good tho he is following the doctors orders to the letter...im just curious if any one has any information on colorectal cancer(i.e. surviving it, etc.) the thing that upsets me is that he wasted away his life as an alcoholic til about 10 years ago but his liver is so shot and his immune system so depressed i cant see him making it through this...im hoping to see him very soon as i dont want him to pass away without seeing him at least one last time...i just never thought i would feel so hurt or cry so much over someone who wasnt in my life and who ive resented for many years...is this normal?

Oh, Sweetie, I am soo sorry about your news. My mom had colon cancer 8 years ago, had the surgery, did fine with that, but the chemo was very hard on her. Please try to see your dad. Make amends, forgive if you can, and try to find out about his childhood and family history. You need to know what happened during his life, just in case something happens. It is VERY normal to cry and feel upset, even angry about what is going on. I just want you to feel no regrets later on in life. I have learned to take NOTHING for granted ever again. Good or bad, we are in this life together. Learn what you can, while time is still on your side. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. Please, let us know how you are doing. We all care.
Love to you and your family,
Keleigh
