Hi,
My 40 yo husband, Thomas, was just diagnosed with colon cancer. On Tuesday he had a colonscopy...at my urging...just because he has a family history of cancers, not colon, but breast, leukemia, etc...Also, his Dad had a pre-cancerous polyp removed at age 60. All of his MD's said I was crazy and that he did not need one until he was 50, 45 at the earliest.
However, he listened to me, and the test revealed a 2X3 sized malignant tumor. CT scan is showly that it is unlikely to have spread, thank God.
We are in shock, but moving along to get a surgeon to remove it and find out what stage it is, as well as finding an oncologist for chemo/radiation.
I have not been able to eat or sleep since then.
I'm so scared I can hardly take it.
I just needed to come to a place thae would understand...
I have 4 young children, and I'm trying to keep things as normal as possible, but it's not easy when I keep thinking that worst...
Thanks for allowing me to vent.

Thanks Philly,
I'm trying to keep it together, but I keep thinking the owrst: what if it's mets, what if it's Stage 4. We haven't even seen the surgeon, so we don't even know a date, but this is what I think.
I can't even breathe sometimes, that's how scared I am.
Thank you for your kind words.
Jane
Judy,
I don't even know how you can help...I just needed to come here to talk to someone who knows what I am going through, someone who knows how scared I am and who knows that there are days when I just want to sleep forever, or until this nightmare is over.
I'm trying to find support groups in my area for this, do you know how I do that?
I'm in NY.
Thank you for being here,
Jane

Hi Judy,
Thanks for your concern...
Thomas had his surgery on Wed...The MD said he did not feel as though it has spread. They tested one of his lynph nodes and it was not cancer...
However, he said the truth will be told tomorrow after the path report comes in.
I feel much better now, we're home, and he feels good...a little pain, but getting better every day.
I just want to know what stage it is, and deal with whatever it is, you know?
I did join a buddy system for colorectal cancer...I have a wonderful buddy and new friend, Andrea who has helped me tremeduosly throughout this ordeal.
It's a wonderful systme that they have and I am grateful for this board for suggesting that I find one...
Thanks again and I will keep you updated with the path report.
Jane
Oh Jane that is good news on both counts.

I would LOVE to help...
it's the colon cacner alliance or ccalliance.org ...I emailed them what was happening and within 24 hours I got a call from the director, Jennie. She told me her story, and listened to mine. After hearing my story, my age, hubby's age, etc...she "matched" me with a buddy. Andrea called me immediately, emailed me every day, and has been a constant source of strength and knowledge for me.
If you need any other info, please email me or let me know...I would love to give anyone more info, or whatever they need to access the website... I would love to help just one person, and make their "journey" , just a little easier.
It really helped me a lot...
SO today, I find out the stage...I'm anxious, but I'm trying to manage it...the kids are home, and I want them to enjoy their last week of summer.
Waiting is so hard....
Jane
