Hello, all. I'm new here. I found out today that my dad has colon cancer. I'm devastated and terrified of loosing him. I am sure you can understand.
I just really need some information and encouragement, please. He's always been in good health, but the last 1.5 years things have gone downhill. He just found out about the cancer 2-3 days ago, but if it started 1.5 years ago... They don't know yet what the extend of it is. The doc just said that they need to operate ASAP, and my dad has a meeting with a surgeon next week. Is that what typically happens? How will they know how bad it is? How soon will they know? I'm worried that he has to wait a week, isn't this an urgent matter?
If you have a story related to this - please tell me. This is my first brush with cancer, and while I'm doing the research on this right now, it would help to hear some stories.
I just... can't believe that it's happening to my dad.

Thank you, Judy. I'm very sorry to hear about your cancer. I hope things are looking up for you.
My dad has always been a healthy person. Until about a year and a half ago, when he started having random pains, aches, tiredness... He actually scared me a couple of months ago, because he went to the doctor about that - the fact that it bothered him
Dasha forgive me for taking this long to respond, I had chemo last week and it put me under the weather for a few days.
Personal questions are not a problem I am happy to answer any questions as in them can hopefully be found hope, support and information.
