I hope you can help me out.
My MIL was diagnosed with ColoRectal Cancer back in August. It is pretty advanced, it has already spread to her liver and lymph nodes.
She then was not able to start treatment right away. First she was fighting it, and then she had a heart attack, and then another heart attack.
She has now had 3 weeks of radiation, and they have had to hold off on Chemo because she is bleeding and her blood count is low. So, she now has to be treated for that.
Its fairly hard to deal with, mostly because it is so hush hush still. She will talk about it only for a minute and then changes the subject.
I am hoping maybe someone can offer some insight on her treatment and maybe explain a little bit, of what she is going through. That way at least then I can try and have a conversation and not feel like I am fumbling over my words hoping not to say something that might upset her.
Ok, Thank You. I am glad this board is here.

As of right now I think she has gotten about 2 weeks of Chemo accomplished.
She finishes up Radiation next Wednesday and then she is going to go on a different course of Chemo. From what my FIL has shared, it is going to be a very rough road for her, when it comes to the new Chemo. And there is a strong likelyhood she will have to be in the hospital for it.
We are all a bit discouraged right now because there has been no change in her overall condition. The radiation and the chemo she has gotten so far has not relieved any of the discomfort or pain she has had to deal with for almost 6 months now.
I think my Husband is looking at flying out to them again this month.
Thanks for asking.
Anna

Thank You Judy.
I havent given up hope yet. I wake up daily hoping it was all a bad dream and that we will soon be all together laughing about it........
She finished up her Radiation and Chemo yesterday and gets a 2 week break before she starts the new round of Chemo, which will last 3 months and she goes into the hospital for 2 days every 2 weeks to get the injections.
She found out that she also has a blood clot in her left arm and is now on blood thinners to disolve the clot, as well as having some significant pain in her right shoulder (they are thinking it is related to the clot).
I think my husband is looking at going out to see them again very soon. They dropped a heavy load on him lastnight, when they informed him that he has Power of Attorney over their Estate and Wills, and insisted on discussing how they want to be laid to rest.
I know I havent posted on here very much. But I would like to Thank You for being here. Thank You very much Judy, you are a good friend, even if I dont know you well.
